Movie of the Week: Disney's Mulan

Mulan is a very old Disney movie that came out in 1998. It is about a girl, named Mulan, who is not quite sure who she is. She struggles to bring honor to her family while trying to become confident in herself.

Mulan’s father is called to war, but he is too old to fight. To save her father’s life, Mulan cuts her hair and takes his place in the army. Mulan’s ancestors decide to send Mulan some help. They send their servant Mushu, a tiny dragon, to summon the greatest guardian.  Mushu accidentally destroys the guardian and rushes at the chance to earn the respect of the ancestor’s. He sneaks off to the soldier’s camp and helps Mulan with her charade.

Together with the help of some new friend’s Mulan is able to save all of China including the emperor himself.

Mulan is a female empowering movie that teaches young girls that they are allowed to be tough. Plus it has some pretty amazing songs. Overall, I would suggest watching it. Or, if you’ve already seen it, give it a rewatch.
