Crane Crash
F
Last Friday, a crane pummeled into a lower Manhattan street. The crashed killed a 38-year-old man in a parked car and left three people wounded by debris that were thrown everywhere as the rig’s lengthy boom fell. Around 8:25 a.m. The boom landed across an intersection, destroyed car roofs and extended much of a block after the accident at a historic building about 10 blocks north of the World Trade center. New York police Sgt. Bob Ganley, who is vice president of the Sergeant’s Benevolent Association, said the group office is right in front of where the crane fell. Thomas O’brien and Dawn Kojima suffered from the most serious injuries but were not critically hurt. The crane crushed most of Obriens car but he surprisingly survived with only a head laceration . The crane tumbled out of control as workers tried to move it into a more stable position, because there were high winds that topped 20 mph.
