Bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef

These aerials of Australia's Great Barrier Reef are evidence the most untouched part of it has the most severe bleaching in its history. The footage, which filmed over 500 coral reefs during six days from Cairns to Papua New Guinea, shows 95% is white and yellow.
Scientists say the bleaching happens in rising water temperatures. The coral, under stress, drives out living algae, causing it to calcify, and part of that is down to the current El NiÃno climate cycle. They say unless the World Heritage Site gets a break in the weather conditions within weeks, some coral areas are unlikely to survive. But the World Meteorological Organisation says a break in temperatures is unlikely, as this year looks set to be the hottest on record.
The Great Barrier Reef stretches 1,200 miles along Australia's northeast coast and is the world's largest living ecosystem. Last May, the World Heritage Committee stopped short of placing it on an "in danger" list but this latest find may raise long-term concerns about its future.

Man starts rowing from Canada to Australia

For 209 days, a British man rowed from Canada to Australia and became the first person to do this solo. He rowed up to 15 hours a day to cover the 14,500 kilometres.
He planned to reach Australia by November, but bad weather pushed him back, and so it took him an extra month.
His wife and children met him in Australia with custom officials. His wife said that he told her that he will not get on a boat for a while, but she thinks that he’ll want to have another adventure in a few weeks.

Ex-Soldier In Legal Trouble for Doing a Good Deed

An English ex-soldier was in the Calais refugee camp in France. He was playing with a little girl who fled Afghanistan with her father. The girl and her father have family in England and wanted to go there.
The Afghan refugee asked the Englishman to hide his daughter in his car and take her to England. The ex-soldier saw the horrible situation in the camp, and he decided to help the little girl.
However, French police stopped him, and the man is now in trouble for helping illegal immigration. He could go to jail or receive a fine of up to £20,000 by a French court.
Difficult words: refugee (a person who had to leave his or her country because of a bad situation), flee (to leave, to run away), fine (making someone pay for doing something illegal).

PlayStation 4 Review

The PlayStation 4 is a good gaming console to purchase. This console can work as something to put in the living room or something to only play games on. It can be used for Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and to just browse the Internet. The majority of the PS4 exclusive games are amazing to play. The storylines are good as well as graphics. If you liked the PS3 you'll love the PS4!

Bulletproof Fashion?

Miguel Caballero is a fashion designer, but he puts a twist on fashion. His profession is making bulletproof clothing. He has made bulletproof clothing for several big names like Sylvester Stallone. He has stores based in Bogotá, Columbia, Mexico, and Guatemala. Vice news made a video on YouTube where they went to one of Miguel's stores and tested out the clothing. When Miguel hires people he requires that they get shot while wearing a piece of the bulletproof clothing. You can look into purchasing one of these lovely fashion pieces if you have the budget for it. Unfortunately,  the clothing runs anywhere from $300 to $35,000. Law enforcement uses his clothing as well as a few Hispanic presidents.

Meme of the Week

Today's meme is on the new StarWars movie. StarWars:The Force Awakens. For those of you who haven’t seen it, it might be confusing, but you can probably get the gist. The new movie came out this December and introduced us to several more lovable characters. And even though his job wasn’t the greatest, we can all agree. We love FINN.

Creed Review

Creed was an amazing movie for those who followed the "Rocky Balboa" movies and for those who didn't. It was definitely a fighting movie. I went into the theater expecting something good, considering it was sold out the last time I tried to go and view it, and I was amazed. Creed started off with the young Adonis Johnson in a juvenile hall fighting another boy because he said something rude about Adonis' mother. Mary Anne, Apollo Creeds widowed wife, visits Adonis and tells him of his father, Apollo Creed. Adonis moves in with Mary Anne and then starts fighting in underground rings. He quickly rises to fame when the legend Rocky starts training him after realizing who he really is. After he gets his real identity released to the public everyone mocks him. He is called to fight the number one heavy weight champion in the world. He is mocked and is called a "fake" Creed. He proves to the world that he deserves the name when he lasts the entire fight with "pretty" Ricky Conlan. Overall a great movie and has a good message of keep fighting and be who you want to be.

Meme of the Week: Poot Lovato

MEME OF THE WEEK:
Poot Lovato

The meme "Poot Lovato" originated after a fan took a terrible picture of pop singer Demi Lovato; the picture was uploaded to the blog site Tumblr, where a user captioned the picture with "Demi's twin sister. She was locked in a basement her whole life. This picture was taken the first time she went outside. Her name is Poot." The meme spread quickly around the internet, as memes do, and horrible photoshoped edits were made. Most edits involve photohoping Poot on to movie posters, writting fanfiction, or anything to make it seem like Poot is an actual person (making wikipedia pages, twitter accounts, ect.). These are a few of my personal favorites...

What's your opinion on Poot? Is she destined for fame, like her twin sister Demi? Should she try and take her parents to court for locking her in the basement? How will her music sound? Comment below!
