In 2016, our nation will elect the 45th president of the United States. Of the thirteen presidential candidates, there are ten republican candidates and three democratic candidates. The top candidates for the Republican Party right now are Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush. Of all of the candidates running for the presidency, my vote would go to retired neurosurgeon and leading republican candidate, Dr. Ben Carson.
Ben Carson was a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland for 30 years from 1983-2013. Carson is most famous for being the first person to separate conjoined twins at the head. He was also the first to operate on a child that was still in the mother’s womb as well as the first to perform a hemispherectomy, or a surgery that removes or disables half a patient's’ brain and still allows them to live. While he has limited political experience, it is clear that Ben Carson is easily the smartest person running for presidency.
Carson says that he decided to run for president in 2016 after many requests from others. He has many good policies that involve specific beliefs. He believes that we should protect the second amendment and allow all law abiding citizens to have guns. His policy on illegal immigration is also great. He believes that all illegal immigrants should be given a grace period to apply for citizenship and during this period they will work the lesser jobs that most Americans don’t want to work like agriculture. After completing this time and an application, the immigrants are allowed to stay. Only those who do not apply or are convicted felon are deported. His policy on military affairs is also very strong. He believes that our military has been weakened and shrunk since the Obama administration, and therefore has to be reinforced and strengthened. America must stay as a world power and we must maintain a force in the world. Rather than using personal preferences, people must use the Constitution as it has been written. His main view is that America is run by the people and not by the National government; which he believes plays too big of a role in our lives.
One of the main reasons I believe in Carson is actually his lack of political expertise. He is not a politician that is running for office, but that he is rather an outsider. With this background, he is able to use a mindset that has not been tainted in the corrupted system of government, but rather has seen the problems from the perspective of an outsider. It’s like a fish in water. If it lives its whole life in water than it won’t know it’s wet. Likewise, many from the government system have been involved in the system so long that they are blind to many of the problems. Finally, Carson is an unashamed Christian and will not be afraid to stand out for his faith as president. That is why I believe Ben Carson would be a fantastic president. What do you think?
