Last week saw one of the calmest Twitter battles of all time. After discovering the poll feature from the new Twitter update, Twentyonepilots, popular alternative duo, decided to pose the ultimate question: which band member is the best? However, in order to truly pick the most popular, band members Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph decided to campaign for their fans affection. Occurring the night after the Republican GOP debate, the band stylized their race as the TOP Debate. Their first order of business: getting the support of the few and famous.
The band then released several campaign videos about the topics they felt were important to them, like giving everyone in the world Coca-Cola, and their policy on Red Bull. After several of these videos, other celebrities picked sides in the battle.
After these and other very special endorsements, the time finally came to vote. The race was tight, with Josh Dun pulling ahead at times, but the fans proved true. After almost 200K votes and 24 hours, the results were in. And it was a tie! The band decided to celebrate their forever friendship the only way they knew how, with their fans. In a packed Milwaukee’s Eagles Ballroom, Tyler and Josh tattooed their names on each other, and truly cemented their age old friendship.To relive the battle, you can go to the band’s twitter @twentyonepilots !
