Booker Elementary Fire

On November 5, a small fire had to be put out in Booker Elementary. The fire started because a student brought a lighter to school and set the girls bathroom on fire. The student intentionally lit her binder on fire and threw it in the trashcan. The trashcan was soon engulfed in flames and the fire alarms were set off by a smoke detector. The school's Vice Principal extinguished the fire before the fire department could get there. The children had to evacuate the building and went to Spratley Gifted Center where the principal graciously put on a movie for the students to watch in the auditorium. The children stayed at Spratley through lunch. Finally, at 1:45, the students and teachers were allowed back into Booker and dismissal proceeded as usual. Business will continue as usual tomorrow morning.
