Actual garbage, I mean YouTuber and past contestant of British tv show “Big Brother”, Sam Pepper, is under fire once again after posting a controversial prank video. The video shows Sam and Viner, Colby, pranking other Viner, Sam Golbachh, by pretending to kidnap the Viners, holding them hostage, and then simulating shooting Colby in the head execution style. Before the prank is carried out, Colby is desperately pleading for his friend’s life, saying things like “he’s all I have left” and “please, he’s my friend, please”. After “shooting” Colby, Sam Golbachh is left tied to a chair, screaming and sobbing for his friend who he believes to be dead. The video even slows down and plays sad music over Colby’s weeping.
Sam Golbachh waits a few minutes, and then gets up from the ground and tries to calm down Colby, who at this point looked traumatized. Pepper’s video ends with him, Colby, and Sam Golbachh sitting on a couch and explaining that Sam Golbachh was in on the prank, and that Colby was fine now.
The video titled “KILLING BEST FRIEND PRANK | Ft. Sam & Colby | Sam Pepper” has gained over 3 million views, but a majority vote of dislikes over likes, with easily 95% of the comments being negative towards Pepper and his “pranks”. Plus, this isn’t the first time Pepper has landed himself in hot water due to one of his prank videos ether. Another series of his videos which involve him groping and sexually harassing women, all in the name of “social commentary” were not well received by the feminist community or anyone really. There are also several accusations about Pepper sexually harrassing younger and even underage fans. So, pretty much no one is pleased with Sam Pepper.
Even the infamous hacktivist group Anonymous has gotten involved by tweeting Pepper that he “has 24 hours to remove the video or incur the wrath of Anonymous”. This could possibly be because of the video’s resemblance to ISIS execution videos, as Anonymous has also waged a cyber war on ISIS as well.
(***NOTE: I would NOT recommend watching the actual prank video itself, not only due to its violent and debatably disturbing material, but also because of the very strong language used.) What do you think? Was this just a fun joke, or did Pepper take it way too far? Comment your thoughts below!
