UNC vs. Nova

It’s a sad day for us Carolina fans as our favorite Heels lost the championship game. I’m going to say this now, that was the best championship game ever. This game was so exciting from start to finish; it was a great back and forth contest. At the end of the first half the Heels were leading 39-34 and it seemed like the Heels could possibly run away with this game early. However, right out of the half, the Wildcats came out really strong and took a quick lead over the Heels. The deeper they went into the second half the more momentum the Wildcats got, until the very end when Carolina made a fierce comeback. After trailing by 10 with 5 minutes to play, the Tarheels kept fighting and eventually stormed by to bring the game within 1 with 1 minute to play. Following this was some of the most entertaining and thrilling basketball I’ve seen in recent memory. The Heels began fouling the Wildcats to slow down their tempo and force them to make their free throws. With 3 points separating these 2 giants when all hope seemed lost; Tarheels Senior Marcus Paige took the ball and made one of the toughest shots ever. While having a hand in his face, Marcus Paige took a shot and changed his form in mid-air and sent up a prayer. His prayer was answered with a resounding 3 pointer to tie the game with 6 seconds left. Then, with time winding down Villanova guard Kris Jenkins hit a wide open 3 as time expired and put the nail in the coffin for the Tarheels and the Wildcats became your champions. I’m not even mad though because the sheer greatness of this game makes up for it. A great game was played on Monday was a great ending to a great season.
