The NFL will elect 4 new inductees into the hall of fame in August: Brett Favre, Marvin Harrison, Tony Dungy and Eddie Debartolo. Each of these men has brought a lot to the game of football in their own separate way. Brett Favre was one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever lace up the cleats. He won 3 straight MVP’s from 95-97 and won a super bowl in that span. He held the record for most passing yards and touchdowns before that record was broken by Peyton Manning. His biggest claim to fame was the fact that he made 297 straight starts from 1992 to 2012, a record that may never be broken ever again. He was the league’s ironman and truly deserves the hall of fame. Marvin Harrison was 1 half of the legendary combo of Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. These 2 guys hold the record for most yards, completions and touchdowns between 2 players in NFL history. In 2002 Harrison set the record for most receptions in a season with 143. He is another guy who definitely deserves the hall of fame. Tony Dungy is a legendary coach. He won the 2006 Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts over the Chicago Bears team who had the best defense in the league that year. He had 6 straight years of winning the AFC South with the Colts and had 10 straight years of playoff football. Dominant coach for both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Indianapolis Colts. Eddie Debartolo was the owner for one of the greatest sports dynasties in history. He was the owner of the 49ers during their magical run in the 80’s. He was the owner during 5 NFC Championship runs and 4 Super Bowl Championships.
This year we will see one of the most star studded hall of fame ceremonies of all time, with four people who definitely deserve to be in the hall of fame.
