October's Book of the Month

Life is hard when you like to read, and I've found that the hardest part by far is trying to find new things to read that are actually good.  If you've ever ran into this problem yourself, then I've got great news: I'm going to share my awesome taste in books with you. You're welcome, in advance.

For the month of October I've chosen one of my all time favorites, "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief", by the incredibly talented Rick Riordan. The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series has earned an eternal place of honor on my bookshelf for its amazing characters, unique humor, and its ability to teach me about Greek mythology without boring me to death.
"Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief" (or, as I like to call it, "Percy Jackson and the Oh No I've Already Grown Attached To These Characters And It's Only The First Book") is about a teenage boy named Percy who lives in New York, has ADHD, and just so happens to be the only demigod son of Poseidon, Greek god of the ocean. Join Percy as he and his best friend/satyr (half man half goat) Grover as they journey to Camp Half-Blood, which is a special summer camp for other children of Greek gods and goddesses (and not like Hogwarts at all).
The rest of the book series follows Percy's many adventures as he learns to control his newfound abilities, picks dumb fights with random Greek deities, and struggles to come to terms with being the only son of a powerful god.
SO, if you trust my judgment, get a copy of "The Lightning Thief", read it, and comment below what you thought!
(Just don't watch the movie, trust me.)
